LSI Logic Forms New Networking and Broadband Organizations and Promotes Bryon Look to CFO

MILPITAS, Calif., Nov. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- LSI Logic Corporation (NYSE: LSI) today announced the formation of two new communications organizations focusing on the global data networking and the broadband communications markets. These organizations replace the former Communications Products Group headed by John Daane, who has left to become chief executive officer of another high technology company.

The company promoted Jordan Plofsky to executive vice president of Networking Products and Giuseppe Staffaroni to executive vice president of Broadband Communications. The two new organizations along with Storage Components and SAN Systems now comprise the company's four major products organizations.

Plofsky and Staffaroni are both LSI Logic executives, who have run the company's fastest-growing communications divisions. Both report to Wilfred J. Corrigan, LSI Logic chairman and chief executive officer.

LSI Logic also announced that Douglas Norby, executive vice president and chief financial officer, is going to become the chief financial officer of Novalux, Inc., a privately held Sunnyvale company supplying the fiber optic market. Norby will continue to serve on the LSI Logic Board of Directors.

Replacing Norby as executive vice president and chief financial officer will be Bryon Look, treasurer and vice president of Corporate Development and Strategic Planning. Look will report to Corrigan.

``Both John Daane and Doug Norby have served LSI Logic with distinction and both were offered tremendous opportunities with other companies,'' said Corrigan, LSI Logic chairman and chief executive officer. ``We wish them well and we fully expect they will continue to be successful in their new positions.

``Jordan Plofsky and Giuseppe Staffaroni will now assume the lead responsibility for the company's communications products. Bryon Look, who has been directing the company's strategic mergers and acquisitions activities for the past four years, will now serve as LSI Logic's chief financial officer.''

LSI Logic Corporation is a leading supplier of communications chips for broadband, data networking, wireless and set-top box applications. In addition, the company provides chips and boards for network computing and supplies storage network solutions for the enterprise. LSI Logic is headquartered at 1551 McCarthy Boulevard, Milpitas, CA 95035, 408-433-8000, http://www.lsilogic.com .
